I’m a big fan of using what we have.
Why buy when there are so many things in our home already?
Applying this question to the kitchen: why buy when there’s so much food in my fridge, pantry and freezer?
Pantry challenges are great to reduce your food waste, they’ll make you use up that package of fancy grains that you bought and never ended up using.
And why throw away money?
Yes, every time that you’re letting something expire and get rotten in your home, you’re throwing out your money away.
That’s why I love to do pantry challenges, I usually do them for just about a week, even though I did a month-long pantry challenge in 2018, to make me use things that I have in my kitchen.
Pantry Challenge 2020
This time I stepped up even more by not going grocery shopping at all – for a (almost – to be specific 28 days) full month.
Due to the state of the world now, it seemed for the best – no grocery shopping and doing something creative to take my mind off of the news during this time.
And I actually enjoyed myself a lot during this pantry challenge, it’s incredible the amount of things that you can cook with what’s in my pantry, fridge or freezer.
Introducing you to my new Youtube channel: sharing what I ate in these weeks, a way to inspire you to make the most of what you have. There were plenty of fails too so don’t worry, you won’t feel intimidated at all!
You can make your own pantry challenge, do what works best for you, being super strict or just a little bit. The important thing is that you use up what you have and don’t let more things expire in your pantry.
